There seem to be no coordination among the internal teams. Even after keeping my car for around 9 days no one was sure whether the works were completed or not, even after repeated persuasions and phone calls from my side. I handed over my vehicle on 2nd Sep and went for delivery on 11th Sep.
I sat there for more 5 hours on 11th Sep unnecessarily and when finally I was cross checking my vehicle from my side I came to know that the suspension works were not done due to non availability of some parts and no one took responsibility for this. But till then no one informed me about that, and I was told that all works were complete. However, the suspensions were fine prior to my handing over of the vehicle. I had no choice but to accept my vehicle in that condition.
Since there is only one service centre of Volkswagen in the entire North-East, we don't have any choice. I will no blame any individual employee of PPS for this but I feel the management is inferior and the customer satisfaction is not at all in priority of the management and they don't give any value to time.
Ok, I'd bought an Ameo Diesel in 2018 after being lured by the reputation of German automobile and their supposed durability. It was a dream car for the family. Oh, the regret that was to come
The car had the first breakdown in 2021 after covid lockdown was relaxed. Out of the blue, the car started shuddering, got it towed to service station, and got a couple of injectors replaced. Let me tell you, they don't come cheap, had to shell out more than 40k. Since then, it became a living nightmare.
To cut the story short, there's been multiple ABS failures (look up online on forums and sites if you don't trust me), injector failures, besides other repairs. Every service cost could be anywhere between 15k-35-50k.
Things came to ahead when they served me a bill equalling the cost of a top of the line Royal Enfield bike, and spare cash. They told me that multiple engine parts need to be replaced, the list was long and troubling. I asked for explanation from them and all they'd tell me is that the malfunction occurred due to contaminated fuel. Be that as it may, I requested and pleaded with them to at least offer me some discount but nothing came of it. I've owned diesel cars from Tata to Toyota, but never experienced such a monumental breakdown, that too in less than 5 years of owning a car that had clocked less than 50k kms! It was quite baffling.
I called VW, e-mailed them, wrote on social media about my issues, requested them to scale up my complaints or at least to give some explanation but all they did was to forward my concerns to the service station.
I even tried for an exchange with another VW, but found little eagerness or professionalism from the exchange person there. I was told that that the exchange officer was on leave. I did not receive a call back either. Finally, I decided to not shell out the money and brought the car home. In hindsight, I'm ironically glad that I don't have to deal with them anymore.
A few odd things about the service station:
1. After each servicing, a feedback is requested from customers which is normal. However, I had once given them a 4 star rating, which I thought was a solid rating. I received a callback from the service station my reasons for not awarding them a 5 star rating. I told them my reasons, but they were not amused. Never have I ever received a call back from any company questioning my rating. In any case, aren't feedbacks supposed to be anonymous? Imagine an Amazon vendor calling you back to argue with your judgement on rating their product!
2. I found the demeanour and behaviour of some of their service advisors cold and unfriendly. To be fair, some of them are quite cordial.
3. There's quite a lot of turnover in their service personnel. Many of them leave and by the time you go for your next service, you're assigned someone new. Perhaps this is common across companies but ideally, you'd like the same person looking after your car's servicing for an extended period.
4. They're overworked and understaffed, resulting in long waiting period for servicing appointments, spare parts and your car could end up days at the station before delivery.
Conclusion: many people are car enthusiasts and VW fans, and I count myself as one. Therefore, it's not my intention to dissuade you from buying a VW car. But, my personal experience has not been good at all. It's such a pity in the end. I have no personal vendetta against the owner of VW Guwahati. But hopefully, you'll take my review seriously and positively and improve your customers' experience.
Thank you if you have read this far.
Happy driving folks.
